“Sad news” RIP Philipe Pereira!

Philipe was one of the greatest ramp riders in the late eighties and a friend of ours. He lived in France most of his live but around 1992 after a knee injury he came to live in Leiria, Portugal home land of his parents. He rode with us for long time till health and personal problems took him to France again.
How we meet him, funny story:
This I have to tell you all “The day we meet Philipe Pereira”
At the time we didn’t know much about the French bmx scene and nobody except Frank new Philipe.
We were all in a local contest riding our small bikes. From the crowd comes this guy, very well dressed with shiny shoes asking if he could ride one of our bikes. We let him ride thinking that was some guy trying to act smart and get some attention (he really didn’t look a bmx’er to us). He pedal towards the ramps, at that time we thought we were going to see someone getting hurt but, he cranked up to the 3m height quarter pipe and puled a big air: -How is this guy- someone said. In the meantime he cranked up again and pulled a big stretched lookback can can, we were all amazed with him, most of us there, have never witness that kind of riding. He kept going 540′s, no handed airs, no foot one handed airs etc etc, I will never forget that day, that’s the way I will always remember him, and also the afternoons playing Dave Mirra in the playstation :)
RIP my friend.

Today something happened… I got an e-mail from Rick Moliterno from STANDARD BYKE CO. about the similarity of our logos.
This was considered when the SUGAR logo was created, althought they were similar they were still very diferent.
Anyway they use that logo for 18 years and the man is right.
I told him that our logo will be change but it will take some time to create a new one.
So, we will be working in a new logo and sugestions are welcome, if you want to help us with this and have any ideas that you want to share with us please send it to info@sugarbikes.com
Hoje aconteceu algo… recebi um mail do Rick Moliterno da STANDARD BYKE CO. sobre a semelhança dos nossos logos.
Tivemos isto em consideração aquando da criação do logo da SUGAR, apesar de serem semelhantes são muito diferentes.
De qualquer maneira eles usam este logo a 18 anos e ele tem a sua razão.
Disse-lhe que o nosso logo vai ser alterado mas que vai levar algum tempo a criar um novo.
Por isso, vamos começar a trabalhar num novo logo e sugestões são bem vindas, se nos quiserem ajudar e tenham algumas idéias que queiram partilhar connosco enviem para info@sugarbikes.com

New face layout
As you can see the web site has a new look, the old one had some troubles with some tipe of screens in your homes so it was changes to this, hope you like it.

Some while ago some kid sent me this drawing, at the time it was funny so I kept it and now I believe it must be shared.
Hà algum tempo atrás um puto enviou-me este desenho, na altura achei engraçado e guardei mas agora acho que deve ser partilhado.

Riders from Leiria have been thinking for years to fix this wall ride right next to the stadium because it would be a great spot to ride but it never happened. Fortunaly there are some new kids in town that want to do something to ride and they fixed it and it’s very good. This is only the first, just a few steps to the right there is 2 more and they are bigger, soon soon you will see.
A muitos anos que os riders de Leiria queriam arranjar este wall mesmo junto ao estádio porque seria um bom sitio para andar mas nunca aconteceu. Felizmente existe pessoal novo na cidade quer fazer alguma coisa para andar e arranjaram o spot que ficou muito bom. Este é só o 1º, a apenas uns passos estão mais 2 e são maiores, breve breve vão ver.

This gentleman pedals the streets of Leiria Portugal for many years with is full equipped BMX, I thought it was cool to put his picture here.

Este sr. pedala pelas ruas de Leiria há muitos anos com a sua super equipada BMX, achei fixe por aqui uma foto dele.
